WASHINGTON - As health care reform legislation makes its way through Congress, one pro-life Congressman has pledged to withhold his support unless his concerns about taxpayer funding for abortions are addressed. Rep. Brad Ellsworth has urged House Leadership to include stronger language to prohibit federal funds from funding abortions as part of the final bill. However, Ellsworth is preparing to pursue alternative means to address pro-life concerns and has been drafting a floor amendment.

WASHINGTON - A new health care reform bill was introduced during a Capitol Hill press conference yesterday. Rep. Brad Ellsworth began reading H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act, and issued the following statement about the legislation:

"Yesterday marked another important milestone in the effort to reform our nation's health care system. Now that we have the final framework of a House bill to consider, I will be spending the next several days reading it cover-to-cover and weighing it against the concerns and ideas of 8th District constituents.

"As I consider the proposal, I will be looking to see that it meets my 6 principles of reform:
